Kohima to penalise sale, usage of single-use plastic
To enforce a total ban on single-use plastic in Kohima, the district task force (DTF) has fixed penalty for violators in both rural and urban areas of the district for not complying with the government order. At a meeting held under the chairmanship of Kohima deputy commissioner Shanavas C, the DTF decided to penalise business establishments and defaulters, who are found selling or utilising banned identified single-use plastic items, with Rs 1,000 for the first offence, Rs 5,000 for the second offence and Rs 10,000 with cancellation of licence for the third offence.
