Jallikattu event in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur postponed to February 19
The organizers of the Tirupur Jallikattu event have decided to postpone the event scheduled to take place at Alagumalai due to a petition filed in the Madras High Court. The petitioner had stated that when the state government issued an order in 2017 specifying names of villages where Jallikattu can be held, Alagumalai did not find a place on the lists. Subsequently, the district administration asked the organizers to withhold the event, but the organizers held a meeting on Saturday and decided to postpone the event to February 19. The organizers said the venue would also be changed based on the instruction of the district administration.
